Huawei is facing uncertainty over the supply of its mobile phone processor chips for well-known reasons, and it has been reported recently that Huawei is actively contacting companies such as MediaTek, Spreadtrum and even Samsung to source mobile phone processors, although sourcing Samsung's Exynos processors may not go down well.

 

 

An article published today in the Japanese edition of Korean media outlet Joongang Daily said that Huawei is trying to procure Samsung's Exynos processors and is expected to make a formal request for supply in the second half of the year.

 

However, the industry believes that Huawei's procurement of Samsung's processors will not go smoothly, and that Samsung may refuse to supply Exynos chips to Huawei for the same simple reason - while supplying mobile processors would add to the semiconductor business, Samsung would be happier to see Huawei's mobile and network equipment business decline than the bigger picture, after all, in After all, Samsung and Huawei are competitors in these areas.

 

The Korean media pointed out that it wouldn't be the first time that Samsung has turned down an order from Huawei either, as it has done so in the past - turning down Huawei's request to purchase Exynos processors.
